Professional statement

Emma Donovan, MA, LPC, LCPC, is an alternative therapist offering online services to people in their 20s and 30s. Her areas of clinical specialization include anxiety, stress, spirituality, self-esteem, trauma, career and lifestyle issues, and emotional regulation.

Emma has traveled, studied, and lived in 32 countries, including becoming an advanced yoga teacher in India, working as a therapist at a mindfulness-based healing center in Thailand, and studying IFS therapy in Spain. She loves integrating western science with eastern wisdom, and believes in helping clients become more conscious and centered individuals in addition to helping them heal.

The main methods she uses with clients include IFS therapy, TRE, Depth Hypnosis, Shamanic Counseling, and mindfulness. She has completed the highest level (level 3) of training in IFS therapy, is a certified TRE provider, and honed her mindfulness skills during the 18 months she lived at a mindfulness center in Thailand.

In addition to being a therapist, Emma is a meditation teacher on the Insight Timer app. Her meditations have been played over 100,000 times and she has been chosen as one of Insight Timer’s “Staff Picks.” She has been published in Hello Giggles, Best Life Online, and Bustle Magazine. She also donates to plant 1 tree for every single session she does! Over 2,000 trees have been planted so far since she started doing this in 2020.

Emma’s office is located in Saint Louis, MO and she holds licenses in MO and IL. She offers online sessions on a HIPAA-compliant video platform similar to Zoom. Contact her using the button on the right to schedule a consultation!

Message to clients

Hi! My name is Emma, and I’m the founder of Alternative Therapy STL. I help individual adults heal past wounds and become more conscious, integrated, and whole selves through an alternative, holistic, and spiritual approach to therapy. I especially love working with people in their 20s and 30s.

Let’s move beyond the days when therapy was stigmatized. Therapy is cool! It’s a powerful component of your wellness, similar to eating healthy and exercising. In my practice, I help you harmonize your mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing by helping you become a more conscious, self-aware and fulfilled person.

I particularly love working with clients who are highly sensitive, intuitive feeling types (think INFJ, ENFP, etc on the Meyers-Briggs personality test), spiritually curious, and eager to go on a path of personal growth and self-awareness as they work through the issues that brought them into therapy.

I use methods like IFS (also called “Parts Work”), mindfulness, and transpersonal psychology to help you access and heal the past wounds stored in your subconscious mind that are perpetuating the symptoms that brought you to therapy. Self-awareness, healing of past trauma, self-love, and personal growth are key components of my practice. Many people come to me who have tried talk therapy before and want something "deeper."

If what I say resonates with you, please send me a message and we will set up a consultation to get to know each other.
