Professional statement

Jacob Voogd (pronounced "Vogue") is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Los Angeles, CA. Jacob is passionate about helping individuals and families make healthy changes in their daily routines towards happy, fulfilling lives. He helps clients who have difficulty managing intense emotions like fear, frustration, anger, loneliness, or jealousy to better understand these emotions and how to keep them from becoming overwhelming. Many of his clients suffer from anxiety or depression, often as a result of a traumatic experience or a past toxic relationship.

Jacob’s work with clients is psychodynamic, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally competent. He incorporates practices from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and attachment-based therapy to help clients grow their awareness of their internal states and learn why they react in certain ways when placed in distressing situations. Clients learn how to navigate difficult relationship patterns and communicate their needs clearly.

Jacob earned a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He believes that the therapeutic connection is most impactful when there is authenticity, transparency, and collaboration. He has extensive experience supporting individuals and families, with a background in special needs populations. His warmth and compassion empowers clients to grow healthy relationships with themselves and others.
