Jillian primarily uses a combination of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques during a session.
Prior to being a mental health therapist Jillian was a preschool teacher for over 5 years. Jillian has passion to assisting children and adolescents with behavioral issues which is what lead her to becoming a mental health therapist. Though Jillian has a passion for the youth it does not stop there; Jillian is passionate and dedicated to assisting all individuals with a variety mental health issues/concerns. While Jillian is warm, welcoming and has the ability to connect with each person that she encounters she does not hesitate to give an individual the push that the need to reach their goals.
Jillian understands the difficulties and barriers to finding a therapist that meets the individuals needs, which is why a first session with Jillian is a get to know you type of session. Giving both parties a chance to get to know each other to make sure they are a right fit. By having the first session in this format it gives the individual the chance to build rapport with the clinician which makes it just a little bit easier to be vulnerable and share the concerns that the person has.
Sessions with Jillian are held remotely though video conferencing.
ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure
Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Child mental health - Specialized strategies for common childhood disorders including attention issues, attachment problems, behavioral disorders, learning disorders, autism spectrum diagnoses, and feeding or elimination issues.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Stress management - Strengthening effective ways of coping with the stress of life and change; managing expectations of self and others
