Professional statement

Jotham Busfield is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with offices in Newton, Lexington, and Concord, Massachusetts. His practice focuses on supporting young men between the ages of 8 and 25 as they navigate a range of challenges, including anxiety and depression. During this formative time when many individuals may struggle with self-esteem, identity, and relationships, Jotham is passionate about empowering his clients to lead their lives with confidence and feel more connected to themselves and their peers.

Jotham utilizes a blend of traditional talk therapy and personal coaching. Tailored to the goals of each individual client, he draws upon evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices.

Enthusiastic and empathic, Jotham strives to create an environment that is judgment-free and approachable. He believes deeply in taking a goal-oriented approach, working closely with his clients and their parents to take actionable steps toward the lives they envision.

Message to clients

My focus is working with young male clients (ages 8 - 25), using a blend of coaching and therapy. Most young guys are resistant to therapy, the blend of coaching often makes the idea of getting help more approachable. I offer free initial meetings in person as a way to give control back to the client before they commit to working with me, and pride myself on making sure clients (and their parents/family members) leave each session with strategies they can use right away.
