Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC Registered Art Therapist, ATR Master of Arts, MAKara Beres is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a private practice in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Kara graduated from Drexel University with a MA in Art Therapy and Counseling. She works with adolescence, adults, parents, and couples with mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, unbalanced relationships, emotional pain, self criticism, and other factors that present difficulties to everyday life. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach with psycho-education, and an insight oriented and approach to help her client's gain new awareness and develop practical coping skills.
Kara's focus in the healing process is to guide individuals toward self awareness, to energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. She welcomes both individual adults and couples who are seeking to create change in their lives, whether it is emotional pain, addiction, substance abuse, symptoms of anxiety and depression that are taking a daily toll, relationships feel unbalanced and disconnected, or stress and self-criticism.

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Codependency - Development of healthy boundaries in relationships; strategies for increasing individual self-esteem and autonomy; coping mechanisms for separation and individuation.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Childhood trauma - Learning how traumatic events in childhood can translate into adulthood; processing through difficult memories with the goal of moving past the experience and lingering symptoms
