Professional statement

Kat Vollono is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in New York, NY. Kat helps clients who either aren’t sure what exactly isn’t working in their lives or aren’t sure what to do to feel better. They face relationship issues, anxiety especially in the face of internal pressure for perfection, or want to feel a greater sense of meaning or purpose in their lives. Kat is a trauma-informed therapist who supports clients as they make sense of painful past experiences and grow from developing greater self-awareness and insight into their lives.

Kat’s approach to therapy draws from many evidence-based therapy modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, somatic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Kat first creates an atmosphere that is warm, compassionate, and safe for clients to talk vulnerably about what’s on their minds. She builds strong trust with her clients and leans on this relationship to mirror back the clients’ words and ideas. Clients learn how to put difficult trauma behind them and focus instead on the future. They also learn how to identify negative thought patterns that lead to discomfort, especially thoughts that are self-critical. Kat is a feminist, strengths-based therapist who enjoys talking about the role of identity and social justice topics in her work with clients.

Kat earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She has nearly ten years of experience working with and supporting clients through various life challenges, roadblocks, and mental health conditions.

Message to clients

Hi, my name is Kat, I am a psychotherapist. You may find that you want to feel more self confident and self assured. Or you might struggle to quiet the little voice that says over and over again that you are “too needy” and that you’re “never going to get better”. Money might trouble you, and you might wake up in the middle of the night scared that you are not where you need to be. You have a deeply sensitive nature and frequently feel let down by others. Sometimes, it’s hard to know what you want, and it’s even harder to ask for it. You have this vision for your life that is brighter, softer, kinder, and more full but you don’t know how to get there.

That’s where I come in. With me, you’ll learn enoughness, insight, safety, and relief. I can help you with your relationships, career, and money stories. I will support you to find the most authentic expression of yourself.

Imagine that you CAN wake up with a full heart, a sense of ease, awareness of your boundaries, and gently and fearlessly assert them. Together, we will work through an understanding of your past, and break through patterns keeping you stuck. I will use modalities such as talk therapy, mind-body connection, internal family systems, and EMDR. Additionally, if desired and appropriate, I can utilize both psychedelic assisted psychotherapy or breathwork assisted psychotherapy.
