Kat Vollono is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in New York, NY. Kat helps clients who either aren’t sure what exactly isn’t working in their lives or aren’t sure what to do to feel better. They face relationship issues, anxiety especially in the face of internal pressure for perfection, or want to feel a greater sense of meaning or purpose in their lives. Kat is a trauma-informed therapist who supports clients as they make sense of painful past experiences and grow from developing greater self-awareness and insight into their lives.
Kat’s approach to therapy draws from many evidence-based therapy modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, somatic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Kat first creates an atmosphere that is warm, compassionate, and safe for clients to talk vulnerably about what’s on their minds. She builds strong trust with her clients and leans on this relationship to mirror back the clients’ words and ideas. Clients learn how to put difficult trauma behind them and focus instead on the future. They also learn how to identify negative thought patterns that lead to discomfort, especially thoughts that are self-critical. Kat is a feminist, strengths-based therapist who enjoys talking about the role of identity and social justice topics in her work with clients.
Kat earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She has nearly ten years of experience working with and supporting clients through various life challenges, roadblocks, and mental health conditions.
