Professional statement

Kate Morris is a clinical social worker and founder of Among the Trees Counseling and Wellness, offering quality mental health care rooted in curiosity, compassion, and connection.

Kate is passionate about helping people recover from diet culture, disordered eating, and eating disorders, and in helping parents and caregivers raise kids who are confident eaters amidst diet culture's influence. She is a non-diet mental health clinician practicing from within the Health at Every Size paradigm and has been a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor since 2018. Having recovered from an eating disorder herself, Kate believes full recovery is possible. She works with clients to establish trust in their bodies, discover a relationship with food that is joyful and free, and help their families do the same.

Kate is passionate about her work, using a relational, acceptance- and strengths-based approach to help people get curious about their lives, find meaning in their unique experiences, and choose a path forward that aligns with their values and goals. Kate values authenticity and vulnerability and remains in awe of the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.

Message to clients

You have been given so many messages about food and your body, and this may have started very young. The longer you've been at it, the more of these conflict, and the harder it becomes to suss out how to take care of yourself. What started as an effort to "get healthy" may now feel messier and more unwieldy. This is especially true if you are a parent or caregiver doing your darnedest not to pass on harmful messaging to your own kids. And this is especially true if your body is changing at the same time.

I work with individuals who have realized (or are beginning to consider the possibility) that the way that they have related to food, their body, fitness, and/or health is no longer working for them or, in many cases, their family.

Together, we'll work to shift your relationship with food and your body from one steeped in mistrust, confusion, and conflict, to one founded on and energized by curiosity, respect, confidence, and peace. You deserve that, and I'm here to help you find it.

Take good care, and I look forward to hearing from you.
