Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPCShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPCKendra Jeffers is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor located in Gaithersburg, MD. Kendra provides therapeutic services for individuals and families that would like support as they navigate life’s challenges. Many of Kendra’s clients feel overwhelmed by their emotions, finding themselves crying at everyday stressors, angry at their loved ones, or frustrated with themselves for not reaching their self-imposed high expectations. This can, at times, manifest into anxiety, depression, or another mood disorder. Kendra helps her clients to gain control over their emotions by expressing how they feel, what they think, and where they want to go.
Kendra’s approach to therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy practices. Clients learn how to grow their self-awareness, including how to identify the cognitive distortions that lead to distressing emotions. Kendra also teaches clients how to focus on the present moment through grounding exercises, which are helpful in everyday routines as a tool to cope with overwhelming feelings. When appropriate, Kendra also provides Christian Counseling to help clients better understand their thoughts and beliefs.
Kendra earned a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Howard University. She has over 15 years of experience supporting children and families by providing them with a safe, compassionate space to talk about their feelings.
