Lakesha Davis
She/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTLakesha is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Windsor, CT committed to working with diverse populations. Many of her clients find themselves feeling stuck as they navigate transitional phases. This includes adjusting to: college life, parenthood, divorce, marriage, adulthood, living independently, starting a new career, co-parenting, and multi-generational living. She provides understanding and compassion, normalizing and teaching about feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, and fear that occur as a result of these changes when we are not fully prepared for them.
She uses two approaches which are the foundation of the therapeutic process when working with clients. The first is, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on assisting individuals to understand and address faulty and distorted thinking, learned patterns of behaviors, and ineffective ways of coping. The second is Systemic Therapy, which focuses on how an individual’s personal relationships, behavior patterns, and life choices are interconnected with the issues they face in their life both past and present. Lakesha’s hope and intention are to assist clients in gaining insight and self-awareness of unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and their origin. This process will open the door to unlearning unhealthy patterns, learning and implementing new skills, and healing.
Her goal is to empower individuals through difficult times, providing a warm and non-judgemental space where clients feel comfortable, heard, safe, validated, and understood; allowing a partnership to develop during the therapeutic process. Lakesha ensures the necessary time and care are taken to gain insight into the needs of her clients, defining the therapeutic process, addressing apprehension around therapy and meeting individuals where they are to build an extensive level of trust. She provides virtual services and her office location is on the public transportation line and offers parking.
