Professional statement

Lily Gatica is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering online therapy to individuals and couples residing in the states of California and Texas. In addition, she holds an Out-of-state Telehealth License in the state of Florida.

Her process involves using a holistic approach that addresses the mind, body, and spirit in a loving and gentle way. Lily believes developing a strong connection between the therapist and the client is crucial to building trust and laying the foundation for change to happen. It is important for the client and therapist to develop a strong relationship so that they can work together effectively, and thus providing the client what they need most in each session. Without a strong and trusting relationship, certain avenues can be overlooked during the healing process.

Lily studied clinical psychology with an emphasis on spiritual in depth psychology. During this time, Lily traveled to Japan to study the culture’s approach to Mindfulness through Zen Buddhism, as well as the relationship to therapy. Lily trained at the Maple Counseling Center where she received extensive experience providing individual therapy to a diverse population of adults ranging from 18-64 years old. She supported clients who were experiencing a wide array of issues: anxiety, depression, grief, self-harm, PTSD, mood disorders, and relationship difficulties. Lily also trained at Early Childhood Development Associates where she worked with families, mothers and newborns, toddlers, and children through an attachment based lens. In addition, she received training on EMDR and trauma informed body focused practices.

Given that every individual is unique, Lily's experience has allowed her to develop a versatile process that helps the client wherever they may be on their life path. Lily is conducting therapy services via HIPPA-compliant teletherapy.

Message to clients

The thought about talking to a stranger about what’s going on is terrifying. When the process involves an honest conversation about symptoms, family problems, and addiction or other “shameful” family secrets, it can keep anyone from healing. You were taught to keep it to yourself and not cause trouble. To not air family secrets and that emotions are dramatic and useless. Especially the biggest of all- grief. There is nobody that gets to escape grief in this process. It's a myth that any of it has to be painful or overwhelming. And struggling with feelings or needing to heal doesn't make you weak. Nobody taught you how to do this.

Your past doesn't have to define you or prevent you from living. You don't have to "suck it up" anymore. You can break the patterns and create a better life for yourself. If you process the guilt, shame, resentment, sadness, then it doesn't stay. You can truly move on. No longer pretending, you get to enjoy your life as it is instead of reliving the past.

Going to therapy can be a difficult choice especially when you know healing is messy and painful. I use effective and quick methods like EMDR and others for the fastest and least painful healing possible. With my help, you can learn the skills you weren't taught and you can heal. It's time to offer yourself the ability to move past this.
