Professional statement

Lisbeth Gannon is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist located in Woodbury, CT. Lisbeth often works with individuals who struggle with anxiety or depression. They experience difficulties connecting with other people in meaningful ways because of their mental health, which sometimes leads to feelings of isolation or loneliness. They might also experience low self-esteem and fall into harmful cycles of self-criticism, which can further lower their moods. Sometimes, these feelings arise after traumatic experiences, including discrimination or judgment because of an identity they hold. These experiences can also cause grief or sadness, and Lisbeth helps her clients process through these heavy emotions.

Lisbeth’s goal is to help clients uplift their mood, reconnect with loved ones, and feel more like themselves. She uses art therapy as a way to offer clients another way of expressing themselves and the feelings they hold. Art therapy looks different for each client, and Lisbeth tailors her approach based on the needs and preferences of her client. She also incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into her sessions, teaching clients about the power of their thought patterns and encouraging them to utilize healthy coping strategies when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions.

Lisbeth earned a Master’s degree from Albertus Magnus College. She has over 10 years of experience helping individuals and believes that each one of her clients has strengths that make them unique. She empowers her clients to recognize their resilience as they work through their mental health challenges.

Message to clients

I believe that we all have the power to heal and have a better life. My role as a licensed counselor and art therapist is to help you guide your own treatment and find the right path for you. I will honor your experience as we work together to overcome symptoms and meet your goals.

Working on my own mental health and creating expressive artwork has helped me discover sources of healing and inner strength. As a result, I bring a deep sense of respect and insight into my work as a licensed mental health professional.

I continue to strengthen my skills as a therapist by attending conferences and researching anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, and advanced practices in serving the transgender community.
