Professional statement

Marcia Luskin is a CRC, LMHC Counselor in Midtown Manhattan. She welcomes both individual adults and couples who are seeking to identify obstacles which are preventing them from moving forward. Many of Marcia’s clients are struggling with emotional pain such as anxiety and depression interfering with daily life, childhood trauma or have relationships that feel unbalanced and disconnected. With over 30 years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor Marcia is also particularly adept in helping individuals who are interested in career change.

Marcia is trained in Gestalt therapy, a humanistic therapy that focuses on gaining awareness of emotions and behaviors in the present rather than in the past. Instead of interpreting experiences for the client, she works with them to understand themselves, meet their immediate needs then, let resolved needs recede into the background.

Marcia is also trained in working with those individuals who have experienced trauma, whether as adults or children

Marcia is focused on empowering her clients to make real, lasting changes in their lives. In session, she helps clients concentrate on the present in mind, body and spirit, utilizing breath, creative visualizations and guided meditation to help them understand their bodies and connect their thoughts to their bodies.

It is important for her to build a trusting relationship with her clients, keeping the environment welcoming and nonjudgmental.

Marcia welcomes people across the spectrum of disability, age, and emotional pain. Using ‘out of the box’ creative practices, she is committed to adapting herself for her client’s specific needs. Her sessions are also flexible, welcoming both in person or online sessions for new and existing clients.
