Mark DeRemer is a Psychotherapist in Chicago and received a MA from Adler University. He works with individuals, couples, and families. Many of Mark’s clients come to address trauma, depression, sexual health & dysfunction, couples counseling, life transitions, grief, and loss. Mark is particularly passionate about serving survivors of trauma, individuals struggling with eating disorders, and distorted body image. He has advanced training in the areas of trauma and PTSD, OCD, personality disorder, depression, and addiction.

Mark is trained in ACT therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), Trauma-focused CBT(TF-CBT), and DBT. Mark has always been genuinely interested in the well-being and uniqueness of everybody around him. He believes that anyone can achieve a healthier life when they are in a compassionate and non-judgmental environment. As a therapist, Mark believes that the most crucial aspect of therapy is to respect the client’s independence by having a genuine connection during the process of therapeutic intervention.

Mark is currently conducting therapy via telehealth however, in some situations he is able to see clients in person. He accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance.

Message to clients

As we go through life we often find ourselves wondering what we can do to better in our relationships with our significant others, family members, and others in our lives. It seems as if we have tried everything, but nothing seems to work, at least not long term. As a therapist, I believe in compassion, therapeutic alliance, and a non-judgmental environment to be with you every step of the way as you reach your goals. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist that has emphasized trauma, complex trauma, sexual dysfunction, relationship issues, grief, infidelity, anxiety, eating disorders, and mood disorders.

Sexual health & dysfunction - Addressing emotional, physical, and biological concerns related to sexual intimacy and functioning; education and skill building around topics such as erectile dysfunction, orgasms, low libido, shame, and history of abuse; improving communication to realize a fulfilling sex life

Eating disorders & disordered eating - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating

Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love

Family issues - Promoting communication and supporting family members to address challenges and reduce conflict and distress
