Professional statement

Dr. Mia Pixley is a Psychologist who works with teenagers, young adults, adults, and parents. Many of Dr. Pixley’s clients seek a deeper understanding of themselves. They want to know more about how they think, what they believe in, why they act the way that they do, and what’s holding them back from a greater sense of well-being. She helps those navigating major life changes, including transracial adoption experiences. She also supports individuals struggling with ADHD, trauma, PTSD, and mood disorders.



Dr. Pixley strives to create sessions that promote feelings of safety as clients explore their own complexities and emotional experiences. She takes a holistic approach and leans on social justice to provide practical, engaging sessions. As a creative herself, Dr. Pixley enjoys  bringing creativity and art into the mental health journey to further clients’ introspection. Clients benefit from psychodynamic therapy and Internal Family Systems, as well as attachment based therapy when focusing on connections and relationships with others.



Dr. Pixely earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from City University of New York. She also holds degrees in Urban Studies and Psychology, as well as Psychoanalytic Development Psychology and Cello Performance. She has extensive experience from pre- and post-doctoral internships, including those at the California college of the Arts Counseling Center, West Coast Children’s Clinic, and Hunter Elementary School.
