Professional statement

Nico Vogelsang is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about working with folks from all stages of life, but particularly young adults. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-worth and relationship issues. Individuals often come to see Nico because they are feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from themselves, their passions and those around them.

Nico approaches therapy from a trauma-informed, humanistic, existential lens. Nico shows up in session with a compassionate, warm stance and works to meet the client where they are at. She works with the individual to figure out what changes will have the biggest impact and supports the client in beginning to navigate how to make those changes. Individuals often leave therapy feeling like they understand themselves and their mental health better, and feel more confident and capable of moving through the world in a way that feels safe, authentic and meaningful.

Nico received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. She has worked at the YWCA Silicon Valley, where she worked with individuals who survived traumas such as domestic violence or sexual assault. She also completed a Post-Master’s Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente, where she worked in the Intensive Outpatient Program and led groups on anxiety, depression, letting go, self-compassion, changing the way we think and living a meaningful life. Outside of private practice, she enjoys running, reading and spending time with loved ones. Nico is currently offering teletherapy sessions as this time. Nico is committed to maintaining an inclusive practice. A main goal of Nico’s for each session is for clients to leave feeling heard, understood and safe.

Message to clients

My hope for every client who I meet with is for them to leave our sessions feeling seen, heard and understood. Therapy can be hard and scary, and I do my best to create a space for clients where it is safe to show up and do that work. I view therapy as a partnership where my job is to be your support system. The world can be an overwhelming and confusing place, and we all can benefit from having someone on our side who is willing to walk with us for a while and help us understand our experiences.

Therapy is a place where you can show up and let go of all of the expectations the world can put on us. It is 50 minutes of your time where we get to focus on what is important to you. It can be freeing to sit with what is present and have the space to process it without feeling judged or like you have to be a certain way. This is the place where you can just be.
