Professional statement

Patricia Valencia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in New York, NY. She often works with adults who feel overwhelmed by the amount of stress and pressure placed on them from their work, their relationships, and themselves. These individuals feel that they have an endless to-do list, which causes worry or guilt that impacts their overall well-being. Patricia helps her clients to find a calm sense of peace, and to balance their lives and find joy. She commonly works with those who are living with anxiety and depression, face grief after a loss, and those finding it challenging to go through the natural aging process.

Patricia takes an eclectic approach to therapy, offering clients the skills, tools, and conversations they need to process through what’s happening in their lives. Her goal is to reduce the preoccupation and worry about the future that many of her clients face instead of focusing on feeling secure in the present. She guides clients through reflection on the patterns in their lives, whether it’s their thought patterns, behavioral patterns, or how their emotions relate to each other. Clients also take a deep dive into their past to explore the many beliefs they hold that might lead to assumptions and judgments.

Patricia’s professional background includes work with caregivers, creatives, executives, and entrepreneurs. She has particular experience supporting the Baby Boomer generation and those who were teenagers in the 90’s, helping them navigate a world that for so long asked so much of them. She welcomes them into therapy to center themselves on their own mental health and to take care of their own needs.

Message to clients

I am committed to developing a meaningful therapeutic relationship with you. I realize that sharing your hidden thoughts and feelings can make you feel exposed and uncomfortable. I know there maybe days where you can’t go deep because something is too new, too raw and too painful. I promise to show up and ride the rough waves with you until you feel strong enough to take them on alone.

I know my clients have unique needs and busy schedules which is why I offer pre-dawn and late-night virtual sessions; I do not conduct phone sessions and I require your video feature to be on during every session.

I understand that some clients relate best in person, at a place where they have roots and a deep physical connection, which is why I offer at home in-person sessions to those in lower Westchester, Long Island and parts of Brooklyn and Queens. Book a free 20-minute BAA compliant Google Meet consultation with me today!
