Professional statement

Renee Eddy is an LMSW, Master CASAC, Life Coach ACC, and Clinical Practice with an Adolescence Certificate from NYU. Her approach as a therapist is a constant theme that runs through all generalist social work practices – meaning she has an eclectic theoretical approach that uses a systems framework to assess a variety of points for intervention.

Renee practices from a strengths-based perspective, identifying a client’s strengths and then building on their strength to empower the client. Renee also reviews the client’s ecological perspective, identifying life transactions and environmental pressures like work, family, and relationships. Additionally, she utilizes CBT to help identify clients' unhelpful thoughts, patterns, and behavior and alter them to work towards their goals. Renee also did an interview with "The New York Times" and the name of the article is "Stress Aging Immune System."

It is Renee's wish that clients remember there is no peace in life without challenges! As your therapist, she will work with you to achieve your goals and help you deal with or get through your life challenges. She strives to create a safe space and judgment-free zone.

Message to clients

The following questions are common:

Why can’t I sleep?

Why don’t I feel like myself?

Why do I feel numb and depressed?

The isolation is taking a toll on me!

I cannot deal with my kids right now! How do I deal with discrimination, oppression, microaggressions, marginalization, racism at work or school, etc.?

The feelings and symptoms you are experiencing may be about your body and mind trying to adjust to difficult and stressful life experiences. These circumstances heavily impact your ability to stay positive and focus on work or school due to feeling.  Especially with everything that’s going on in our world right now. Well, that is understandable because we are dealing with something in our society that we’ve never dealt with before or something we have been dealing with for a long time now. It is having a negative domino effect on your mind, body, and soul. You feel completely thrown off balance from your life traditions. It is important to remember that there is hope.

My approach as a therapist is a constant theme that runs through all social work practices. This means I have an eclectic theoretical (mixed bag) approach that uses a systems framework to assess a variety of points for intervention. I practice the strength perspective. With this practice, I identify clients’ strengths and then build on their strengths to empower the client. I identify your life transactions and environmental pressures (work, family). Using CBT helps me identify your unhelpful thoughts, patterns, and behavior and alter them to work towards your goals
