Professional statement

Robert Kaye-Walsh is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Brooklyn, New York who specializes in anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and trauma. His practice is open to adults and young adults, as well as individuals and couples who are parents.

Clients often visit Robert when they’re experiencing elevated levels of anxiety. This may be manifested as panic attacks, distorted patterns of thought, or constant tenseness and restlessness. Robert takes a psychodynamic approach to help clients work through this overwhelm, breaking down and exploring what might be contributing to their intense emotions and experiences. When clients are experiencing particularly acute anxiety, he will also help guide them with skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Robert also uses a psychodynamic lens to explore symptoms of depression, and often assesses a client’s general life and physical situation in order to deeply and holistically understand what may be causing or contributing to the depression.

Robert’s office is in Dumbo, located near the F train at York station, where he looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Therapy is a unique, complex endeavor. That’s because all individuals engaging in it—therapists and clients, alike—are precisely those two things:  unique and complex. I stay mindful of these things by embracing curiosity and acceptance, and suspending, to the greatest extent possible, judgments and biases. I relish the challenge of making sense of our messy, confounding selves and experiences; of loosening the tangled knots of our intersecting identities; and of easing the pressures we absorb from external, powerful forces. I look forward to figuring out with you the adjustments that can be made to support you in reaching your goals. It would be my privilege to be there as you uncover the internal resources needed to aid you in realizing your full potential.
