Ruby Orcutt is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Buffalo, NY. Ruby specializes in working with female students and professionals who feel overwhelmed by the pressures placed on them to succeed. This can lead to creative blocks or burnout, which comes with feelings of frustration, confusions, and lack of motivation. Ruby’s clients are women that are entrepreneurs or new to the workforce, and face challenges in feeling confident in themselves, leaving them without boundaries. They feel drained and hopeless, which brings them to therapy. They seek change in their lives so they can feel balanced and whole, rather than anxious and stressed.
Ruby uses an integrative approach to supporting her clients. She helps clients set goals for themselves and for their wellbeing, taking what’s motivating them to make changes, and identifying what changes would be the most effective in creating a healthier lifestyle. She also incorporates somatic work (Natural Processing, somatic EMDR), cognitive interventions (CBT, REBT), mindfulness, behavioral strategies, and coaching into her sessions so that clients can become more aware of the body sensations, thoughts and behaviors that lead to burnout, stagnation, and feelings of low self-worth. Clients practice asserting their needs with others, and learn how to communicate effectively. They find a calm, nonjudgmental space where they can work through what they’re feeling and how their lifestyle impacts them.
Ruby earned a Master’s degree from Medaille College. She uses positive psychology to empower clients to feel confident in their abilities as they navigate school or the workplace and to make healthy changes in their lifestyles so they can feel balanced across work and life.
