Professional statement

Sarah Meng is a therapist offering virtual sessions in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Colorado, and Iowa. Sarah works primarily with people who are LGBTQ, people who are neurodivergent, and in larger bodies who are struggling with feeling connected, trauma, depression, and anxiety.

Sarah has been an advocate within LGBTQ communities for over two decades and has specialized in working with LGBTQ people as a therapist for over ten years. Sarah founded Healing Room Counseling in 2015. In addition to working in private practice, Sarah has worked in several settings, including hospitals such as Emory and Grady as well as within university counseling centers. She has also worked with the National Football League and the National Hockey League. Although all of these sites had their bright spots, seeing individual clients has always been a weekly highlight.

In addition to clinical work, Sarah has co-authored research publications academic journals such as the Journal of Counseling and Development and the Journal of LGBT Youth. They have also given professional presentations with organizations such as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA), and the Southeastern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. Sarah also co-authored an article on the dangers of so-called conversation therapy that was published in SAGE Press’ Encyclopedia of Theory and Counseling in Psychotherapy.
