Professional statement

Seth Golub is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the SF East Bay, and welcomes families, couples, and adults of all ages. Many of Seth’s clients come in to address current challenges (anxiety, depression, relationship, family, career, and grief/loss), as well as lifelong impacts of trauma and attachment disruptions.

Seth enjoys helping individuals navigating life transitions and supporting families of children with special needs. He has advanced experience working with individuals with ADHD, BPD, complex PTSD, ASD, chronic pain, complicated bereavement, and job/career challenges.

Seth's style is warm, collaborative, and solution focused. He uses evidence-based therapies and skills training (DBT, ACT, CBT), within an attachment- and strength-based framework. While taking time to explore and understand the impact of the past on current beliefs, behaviors, and relationships, Seth’s primary goal is partnering with clients to identify and achieve meaningful goals and “here and now” improvements that are consistent with their own, authentic values.

When appropriate, Seth draws on lessons learned from 30 years of marriage, parenting two children (one neurodiverse), and three decades of professional experience as a tech executive, founder, management consultant, and executive coach.

In addition to private practice, Seth served as Director of the Residential Treatment Center at La Cheim Behavioral Health, where he also provided individual and group therapy in the Partial Hospitalization Program, led the DBT, Career, and Memory/Focus groups, and provided individual and group support to survivors of suicide loss.

Seth is a long-time outdoor enthusiast and former wilderness first responder. He offers outdoor therapeutic and challenge experiences for interested clients where clinically safe and appropriate.

Seth offers remote therapy sessions, as well as in- person meetings in office and outdoor/park settings.

Message to clients

One of the best things for me about being a therapist is having a chance to work with people on things that truly matter: our happiness, our relationships, our families, our health, and the things we do that provide us with joy, purpose, and meaning.

Although most people begin (or return to) therapy at times of crisis, working through current challenges also provides a wonderful and unique opportunity to find and use our unique strengths and style, and to practice new approaches that can end the "rinse and repeat" cycle of problematic recurring patterns. This offers the opportunity to experience enduring life-changing improvements in our life, occupations, and important relationships.

Therapy is a significant investment, and finding the right personal fit and comfort with a therapist is critical. For this reason, I offer a free 30 minute initial authentic discussion and consultation so that we can get to know each other and see if the fit is right.

I am also a big believer in the importance of a comfortable setting for therapy. In addition to remote sessions for clients throughout California, I also offer in-person sessions in the SF East Bay in a spacious traditional office, as well as beautiful, private, natural settings in some local East Bay Regional Parks that allow for more movement and experiential activities.
