Message to clients

The fact that you are here considering this process takes immense courage. The work of self growth and change can be daunting, and for this reason establishing safety in your connection with your therapist is paramount. I encourage you to take your time and be intentional about assessing how you feel in the presence of a potential new therapist. The ideal therapy incorporates a combination of feeling safe enough with your therapist to examine all the different parts of yourself and feeling challenged by your therapist to ask questions, pause and reflect and take action that is different from your default way of being. If you are coming to therapy as an adult, you have had many life experiences that have shaped who you are and how you are. For this reason, change will be and should be a gradual process of rewiring body and brain circuitry so that you can achieve your personal goals towards living a healthier life, however you define it for yourself.
