Professional statement

Dr. Stephanie Thrower is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides individual therapy to individuals during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She is a graduate of Boston College's doctoral program in Counseling Psychology. In addition, she received her masters in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College and Applied Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. Her clinical training includes providing inpatient and outpatient therapy in a Veteran hospital, a community healthcare center, a college mental health center, and schools.

Working in perinatal mental health combines many of her interests including women's health, social justice and racial identity, the mind-body connection, performance psychology, attachment, and career. She also has researched and trained how providers can be more racially and culturally responsive.

Stephanie aims to offer a supportive, validating, and empowering relationship for her clients during the perinatal experience. She values connecting client's with resources, supporting increased knowledge about themselves, and bolstering skill development to improve self-advocacy and stress management.

Message to clients

I help women gain confidence in their roles as mothers and in their careers without compromising their well-being. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being incredibly organized, compassionate for others, and high-performing in their work, life can feel challenging.

Before women have reached out for therapy, they thought something was wrong with them. They thought, "Other women seem to have no trouble balancing their careers and motherhood, why can't I?" Or "Why doesn't motherhood come naturally for me like it does for everyone else?" They worried they would have to compromise either who they wanted to be as moms or what they wanted to achieve in their careers.

Like my clients, you deserve to feel confident even in the midst of major change. Living wholeheartedly as a mother and in your career is not out of your reach. If you want to live your life with more courage, less self-criticism, and more hope I’d love to help you get there.
