Finding the right therapist can be a tough and even daunting experience. It's difficult to tell if a therapist is right for you based on a blurb, photo or even a video. I don't claim to know that we'll be a perfect fit but if I believe I can help you, I'll tell you. If not, I'll refer you to someone who I think can. I regard myself as a warm and compassionate therapist who is supportive as well as direct and challenging when required. I am passionate about my work and find it fulfilling and energizing.

The majority of my post-graduate psychotherapy training is in the field of Gestalt therapy and so I emphasize present moment awareness. My experience tells me that deepening awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviors is the first step toward gaining relief, healing and experiencing positive change.

Although I believe in general guiding principles, I don't believe 'one size fits all' so, together, we'll collaborate to develop a course of therapy based on your specific needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

Just as every individual is unique, so is their treatment. So it is my job to create a meaningful and appropriate treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. My approach to medicine is thoughtful and cautious; I will suggest the need for medication, but only when necessary and appropriate. I also value psychotherapy, and view it as a deeply personal, individualized, and dynamic process. Therapy is a place to share, unburden, and grow. By sharing my understanding of your concerns with empathy and respect, I hope to help you find insight into and relief from your adversities, and enhance your personal life so you may achieve healthier relationships with yourself and others.

People come talk to me for different reasons. Some want to develop new approaches to life and relationships, some are struggling with substance use and other forms of addiction, some are in a state of transition, and some are trying to move away from unhealthy patterns such as depression and anxiety. Many are couples coping with relational issues who want to grow emotionally and improve communication. For whatever reason you come to me, my aim as a therapist is to help you create a better, more fulfilling life by understanding yourself better and building upon your innate strengths.
My approach is collaborative and engaged. I try to create a safe, non-judgmental space for your process to unfold. For me, actively joining a client in the exploration, discovery and recovery that takes place in the therapy room is an essential component in building trust and comfort. One of my core beliefs is that is crucial to meet clients where they are in their process, whether they are coping with ambivalence around relationships or substance use or attachment challenges, and to help them achieve their journey to discover and achieve their personal goals. I look forward to working with you!

I work from the assumption that many of us are held back by patterns of emotion and behavior that we learned early on--patterns that have outgrown their use, and are now causing anxiety and disconnection. Psychotherapy is a uniquely safe and curious environment, where patient and therapist work together to identify, understand, and unravel these patterns.
Because each of us comes from different circumstances, with a different set of goals, the work of therapy will be unique to each patient. Some people need more structure; others more openness. Figuring this out together--and adapting it when necessary--will be part of the process.
Finding the right therapist isn’t always simple. I encourage anyone making this step to ask many questions and to trust your judgment. I look forward to talking to you.

Therapy provides a client the unique opportunity to learn something new about who they are and how they walk through the world. Working collaboratively with a trained professional provides the opportunity to see things from a different perspective and to try new approaches or get new perspectives on old problems.

Gaining deeper knowledge, compassion and respect for who you are at your core can improve your relationships, increase your self-esteem and assist you in making better choices.

I have successfully worked with many people who initially felt that therapy was shameful or that it couldn't possibly be helpful for them. Ultimately, they came to find that the opposite is true; only the truly courageous are able to open themselves up to exploration and ask for help when it is needed.

I invite you to reach out and experience the transformation that can occur when two people work together to build relationships, break out of old patterns and achieve life goals.
