SWPA is a group of seasoned and experienced specialized clinicians, each of us at the top of our respective specialities. We have come together with one shared truth - for us, our work is a calling. This isn't just a job. This isn't just a paycheck. We truly love our work and the care we provide our clients. Every decision we make in our practice is based on helping our clients achieve their goals.

We believe our clients are "whole" just as you are. You are not broken, you are not bad, but you may be struggling or hurting, like so many of us are. That struggle may be internal in how you think about yourself or others, or the struggle may be external in your relationships. Regardless of the source of your pain, there is hope that things can be different. The first step in creating change is reaching out and finding a place you feel comfortable in being yourself - your whole self.

What services does your practice offer?

Southwest Psychotherapy Associates is a consortium of seasoned clinicians spanning a wide array of specialities. We offer individual, relationship (couple's, pre-marrital and marriage, polyamorous) counseling, and group therapy.

What are your practice's specialties?

SWPA clinicians offer a number of specialities including, adjusting to life changes, anxiety, depression, relationship counseling (couples/marriage, pre-marital, and non-traditional relationships [open, polyamorous, and kink]), family counseling, PTSD and trauma work (through EMDR and hypnosis), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), child/adolescent care, chronic illness and medical crisis counseling, aging and end of life care, addiction and impulse control issues, and GSRM (gender, sexual, and romantic minorities [formerly LGBTQ+]) issues.

Why should I choose your practice?

Pardon while we boast... SWPA therapists are not baby therapists. The youngest of us has a decade working in their field. We are the leaders in our respective speciality. Our expertise has been sought out by Oprah, The Washington Post, Refinery29, Houston Chronicle, and OutSmart Magazine. We have been on Great Day Houston and numerous TV and radio spots. We are not generalists. We are specialists - just as your therapist should be.

How does payment work at your practice?

Fees depend on the clinician and service provided. Payment at SWPA is fee-for-service, meaning payment is made at time of sessions. We are considered out-of-network with insurance companies and are happy to provide a superbill our clients submit to their insurance for reimbursement. Ask us about our sliding scale availability.
