Our goal at the collective is to provide a queer affirming, safe and intimate space for you to explore your inner world, bringing you closer to living your most authentic life. Each clinician brings their authentic self to each session allowing for an individualized, collaborative approach to treatment with a core belief that you are the expert in your own life. It is our belief that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. We currently have clinicians practicing in New York, New Jersey, Florida and South Carolina.
When you reach out to us, you will be met with warmth and compassion. The first call with the intake coordinator will be aimed at learning what brought you to therapy and your expectations for our working with one of our clinicians. Based on this information, you will be matched with a therapist in our practice that will best suit your needs. You also have the choice to set up an appointment with a therapist of your choice.
The collective offers Individual and couples therapy. The therapist will use evidence-based assessment tools and interventions to ensure they are providing you with a high level of care. Depending on the goals of the client, they may assign homework but this is dependent on the needs of the client. Progress often happens with work outside of therapy and in between sessions. The clinicians at Velvet Psychotherapy Collective are experienced in Psychodynamic theory, psychoanalytic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, emotionally-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. We are a full service psychotherapy collective offering remote individual, couples and group therapy sessions.
Sex therapy available with Kelly Ghweinem, LCSW in NY, NJ, FL & SC.
The therapists at Velvet Psychotherapy Collective specialize in a variety of areas including anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, sexual disorders like erectile dysfunction, pelvic pain, low libido, discrepant desire, Kink/BDSM Affirming therapy, non-traditional relationships, and couples therapy with a focus on trauma informed care utilizing individualized care through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens. Each therapist is specialized in different treatment modalities and are required to attend anti-racist and LGBTQ focused trainings annually. Our goal at the collective is to provide a safe place for individuals to experience mental health treatment with therapists who understand the importance of decolonizing mental health.
Velvet Psychotherapy Collective is committed to helping our community. During the last few years we have seen how the systematic oppression and collective trauma of our society has impacted the mental, emotional and physical states of marginalized individuals. We established this group practice to provide a much needed service to individuals within our community.
Our practice is private pay, sliding scale and we do accept some insurances. Our fees range from $150 - 300 an hour depending on the provider and service offered. We offer sliding scale depending on financial need. We are happy to offer a superbill at the end of the month for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement for services paid to Velvet Psychotherapy Collective during the Month.
