Professional statement

Dr. Allison Resnick is a Clinical Psychologist on the north side of Chicago who specializes in adolescents and young adults with anxiety, mood, transition, and identity development concerns. She enjoys working with clients who are motivated to move forward in their life and align their actions and values. She also does parental guidance and family work to help improve and model effective coping, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Dr. Resnick takes an integrative approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and relational approaches. She works from a strengths-based perspective that helps clients identify negative thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. She then helps them develop healthier coping strategies to manage their relationships and reframe their thought patterns.

Dr. Resnick cares deeply about her clients and is there to help them move forward and discover a life they love. She received her PsyD from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her BA from Northwestern University. Outside of her private practice, she is an adjunct faculty member in the Clinical PsyD department at The Chicago School where she has taught child development, adult development, clinical interviewing and observation, and CBT.

Message to clients

I believe it is my job as a clinical psychologist to help clients and their families improve on their strengths and grow in their areas of need. Humor is highly valued in my approach and I want clients to be able to share their goals, experiences, values, thoughts, and feelings without judgment and with compassion. I work from a strength-based, collaborative approach to empower clients to improve relationships, develop identity, cope with emotional struggles, or promote balance.
