Dr. Amy Werman is a licensed clinical social worker based on the Upper West Side of Manhattan who works with young adults through later life stages. Many of her clients come to her during times of transition—whether in relationships, work, or identity—or when emotions like anxiety and depression begin to feel overwhelming.
Amy is especially passionate about helping people move beyond entrenched patterns and reconnect with a greater sense of vitality and purpose. With advanced training in trauma-informed therapy, family systems, and psychodynamic psychotherapy, she helps clients understand both the origins of their struggles and how to create meaningful, lasting change.
Her integrative, personalized approach draws from multiple evidence-based therapies to support each client’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. In session, Amy focuses on helping clients access and strengthen their inner wisdom and resilience, so that growth feels not only possible, but sustainable.
Amy’s style is warm, collaborative, and deeply attuned. Clients often share that they feel truly seen and understood—sometimes for the first time—which creates a strong foundation for honest exploration and growth. She is committed to building a therapeutic relationship that respects each client’s autonomy and lived experience.
Amy received her MSSW from Columbia University School of Social Work and her doctorate in clinical social work from Adelphi University School of Social Work. She has additional training in EMDR, family therapy, psychedelic-assisted therapy, canine-assisted therapy, and will soon begin training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Outside of her practice, Amy enjoys baking, birding, bicycling, and spending time with her pug, Mazie.
