Aviva is a Certified and Advanced Imago Relationship Therapist helping partners in any relationship to experience increased and more satisfying connection. She is also trained through ACEP ( Association for Comprehensive Psychology ) as an EFT ( tapping ) practitioner. EFT can assist with multiple concerns including limiting beliefs, undesired behavior patterns, managing stress and traumatic responses to prior events and relationships, and much more.
Aviva obtained her MSW in Clinical Social Work from New York University and has held a variety of positions throughout her career. She has extensive experience in medical social work, advocacy for the elderly and special needs populations, and is an avid community volunteer and program developer and organizer .
Aviva attended over eighty hours of advanced training in sex therapy and sexology through AASECT ( American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists ) and the insights and knowledge gained through this coursework and accompanying supervision continues to inform her work. She enjoys working with LGBTQ couples and individuals.
Aviva continues to train in additional therapy modalities especially those which use Energy Psychology methods to assist in the healing process.
Her philosophy centers around the belief that we each know intrinsically what help we desire and need. Often we welcome a companion or facilitator ( in the form of a counselor ) to help us with the discovery process. The journey to self discovery can be confusing and frustrating, and a skilled and compassionate guide can help by walking beside us. We exist and thrive in relationship and our steps toward healing ( a non-linear process ) are nourished by an empathic other.
