Dr. Prescott works well with individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-critical thoughts, relationship stress, and burnout. Her clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves and their community, and like they've lost direction in their own life. Sometimes folks report feeling somatic stress, such as pain and headaches. Trauma-informed, collaborative, and authentic, Dr. Prescott displays a deep commitment to building a secure relationship that is a necessary foundation for healing work. Without judgment, you can explore these difficult topics, learn skills to re-center, and find your unique path forward.
With over 9 years of clinical experience working with teens and adults recovering from trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance, Dr. Prescott has worked in in various settings, including community based clinics, inpatient hospitals, residential programs, and hospitals, including Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. With a special interest in sexual trauma recovery, she completed a Rape Crisis Counselor Certification and later served as the Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 2.5 years. This remains a specialty area for Dr. Prescott, who treats trauma by first building safety and trust, while incorporating evidence based practices, such as Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
Dr. Prescott offers therapy online via a private, secure telehealth video platform. Therapy sessions typically last about 50 minutes and occur weekly or bi-weekly. Both as needed and more intensive therapy options are also available with longer session options and/or increased frequency. Effective therapy might last anywhere from a few sessions to several years. Some specific therapy techniques are a set number of sessions, while others have a more flexible approach.
