Professional statement

Brittaney Latta is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in San Diego, CA. Brittaney works with teenagers, young adults and adults in both individual and family settings. Her speciality is helping clients reduce the amount of time and energy they spend worrying about what others think about them. Many of Brittaney’s clients engage in unhealthy or toxic relationships, whether that’s because they feel that they need to pretend to be someone else or because of codependent patterns.

Brittaney offers her services to people of all identities, backgrounds, and relationship styles. She understands that therapy is only effective when clients can feel comfortable and authentic during sessions, so she endeavors to get to know each person on a deep level. Clients learn how to set boundaries with others and improve their communication skills. Brittaney leads clients through reflection about the beliefs and assumptions that came from their childhood experiences. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help break unhelpful thought and behavioral patterns, which can improve mood.

Brittaney earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Phillips Graduate University. Her sessions provide clients with a space to celebrate resilience and self-love. Her style centers around the individuality of each person, and welcoming them into the therapy space without judgment.

Message to clients

Remember, even the strongest people ask for help. Kobe wouldn't have gotten to where he was without the support and guidance from coaches. Are you ready to feel empowered to be your true self, identify boundaries that create peace, and learn real-life coping tools to manage stress and anxiety to live a life where you are in the driver’s seat?

What does the LGBTQ+ community and trauma survivors all have in common? You all had to be very aware of your surroundings and had to be highly sensitive to the emotions and reactions of others. You all grew up in a world where you had to hide parts of yourself in order to feel safe. Constantly being mentally overly prepared must have you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Don't tap out yet- I can help you overcome living like this!

As a queer, person in recovery, trauma surviving therapist, I create a down-to earth safe space for people who have been through really tough times. I make sure that you feel heard, understood, and your identity is respected. Together, we will work with your strengths to help you feel empowered to create a life full of peace, fulfillment, and safety. If you can give me 3-6 months, we can make some beautiful improvements together.

Therapist's note

As an out-of-network therapist, I have partnered with Mentaya to help my clients save money on therapy. I don't accept insurance, but Mentaya helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions.

If you qualify, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year.

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as a therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.
