Bronwyn Heiss is a Licensed psychotherapist located in Coral Gables, FL and offering online therapy within the State of Florida to people who would like to resolve past trauma that is still negatively affecting their relationships.
She assists high functioning, high performing successful professionals who have mastered their career along with many other aspects of their lives, but still struggle within their intimate relationships.
Bronwyn utilizes an evidence-based therapy modality called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She teaches clients how to implement several coping skills for moments of distress, then takes them through EMDR exercises that can help them replace their painful memories and their intrusive trauma symptoms with adaptive, helpful, positive beliefs about themselves and the world.
Traditional talk therapy is also available.
Clients learn how to release shame and replace it with self-compassion by learning self-attunement. Effective communication skills, boundaries, and self-acceptance allow clients to give themselves and their partners the benefit of the doubt but within healthy boundaries that foster accountability and change.
Clients practice learning how to deal with hard emotions, instead of shutting down, overreacting, or running away during interpersonal conflicts. They also learn how to befriend their nervous system and widen their capacity to stay grounded when stressed.
Bronwyn is trained in the Gottman Method to assist couples in gaining more connection, communication, and intimacy in their relationships. She also includes an integrative approach that includes attachment based theory to help heal relational conflict and dynamics.
Bronwyn has 13 years of experience guiding clients to thriving instead of just surviving. Her goal is to empower her clients to remember who they truly are, so that can speak to themselves and the ones they love, with compassion and love. To release their inner and outer critics, release intergenerational trauma, and live peacefully.
