Professional statement

Carrie Covell, LCSW, LMSW is a clinical social worker who treats adults using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In her private practice, Carrie focuses on a variety of mental health conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and obsessive-complusive disorders. Carrie additionally uses a behavioral approach to help couples, adult family members, and parents manage problems in their relationships. Carrie provides comprehensive DBT at Westside DBT in Los Angeles, where she specializes in treating suicidality, self-harm, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Carrie earned her Master of Science Degree in Social Work at Columbia University, where she was selected for a fellowship in the DBT Training Program. Carrie completed DBT Intensive Training through the Linehan Institute's training company, Behavioral Tech, and has also completed training in CBT Essentials, CBT for Depression, and CBT for Anxiety through the Beck Institute. Before moving to Los Angeles, Carrie worked as a CBT and DBT therapist at a group practice on the Upper West Side of New York City.

Carrie is currently available for weekday and evening virtual sessions with clients living in either California or New York, and she will be available for in-person sessions in Los Angeles pending the COVID-19 pandemic. She is passionate about building strong, authentic relationships with her clients while capitalizing on the science of evidence-based treatment to help people meet their goals and build the lives they envision for themselves.
