Professional statement

Carrie's clients are vibrant, intelligent people who sometimes face challenges regulating their emotions, controlling their impulses, maintaining their relationships, and being compassionate toward themselves. She also sees clients who struggle with overthinking, mood fluctuations, and low self-esteem. Often, people reach out to Carrie after experiencing a loss or in the midst of a conflict or transition. She works frequently with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as with those whose loved ones have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Carrie treats adult populations of individuals, couples/partners, and families.

Carrie is a behavioral therapist, which means she uses only evidence-based interventions (methods that have been scientifically proven to work) to treat mental health conditions. The backbone of her practice is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), supplemented with strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Both modalities are effective in helping people understand and change their behavior. Carrie uses additional approaches when clinically indicated and, of course, believes that sometimes laughter is medicine! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Carrie assesses and treats her clients in the context of their environment, and she practices with a nonjudgmental, anti-racist, sex-positive, and gender/identity/lifestyle-affirming stance.

Carrie earned her Master of Science Degree in Social Work, Advanced Clinical Practice, at Columbia University. There, she was appointed to a fellowship in the DBT Training Program, which was developed with DBT founder Marsha Linehan. Carrie completed DBT Intensive Training through the Linehan Institute's training company, Behavioral Tech, and was trained in CBT Essentials, CBT for Depression, and CBT for Anxiety by the Beck Institute, which was developed by CBT founder Aaron Beck. Before moving to Los Angeles, Carrie worked as a CBT and DBT therapist at Behavioral Psych Studio in New York City. Carrie currently practices part-time at Westside DBT in Los Angeles, where she delivers comprehensive DBT.

Message to clients

Congratulations on taking a step towards change. Deciding to work with a therapist means you want your life to look different in some way. Whether you're troubled by painful emotions, difficult thoughts, a loss, or simply want support as you navigate a transition or stressful event, I'm here. I'll focus on building a strong, authentic connection with you while using the science of evidence-based treatment to help you meet your goals. Therapy is a collaboration - you don't have to do this alone!

I offer afternoon and evening in-person appointments in Los Angeles, and virtual sessions throughout California and New York. My office is conveniently located just south of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Parking is available, and my waiting area overlooks a beautiful Spanish-style courtyard. My two senior, special-needs rescue dogs will happily join your session if you'd like!

If you're wondering if I'm the right fit for you, what you can expect from the types of therapy I practice, or whether you're ready to engage in the therapeutic process, please reach out for a complimentary phone consultation. Selecting a therapist is an important decision, and a brief chat may help you feel more confident in your choice.
