Christine P. Rhodes is a licensed independent clinical social worker based in Providence, RI. She works from a trauma-informed perspective and is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. She has received specialized training in substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, mindfulness, trauma focused therapy, and family systems.
Christine collaborates with clients to help them to raise awareness of areas of challenge utilizing a strengths-based approach. She believes strongly that each individual is the expert on his/her/their own life, and invites each client to actively participate in treatment. She helps clients to explore the impact of painful events in order to make sense of them, but does so in a way that avoids re-traumatizing the individual. Christine sees individuals who range in age from 12 to 75.
Before opening her own private practice, Christine worked as a substance abuse specialist in a hospital setting, was the Clinical Director of a social service agency for ten years, and was a trauma clinician with a team of other trained clinicians in an agency setting. Her work and education experience have allowed her to gain unique insights into successful interventions, local recovery resources, and team-based and collaborative approaches to treatment.
Christine received her Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Connecticut, and her Master in Social Work from Rhode Island College School of Social Work. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has a specialized certification in Anger Management. Christine provides supervision for other clinicians and develops and leads trainings for staff at area social service agencies in Rhode Island, including workshops on trauma informed care, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and motivational interviewing.
