Professional statement

Elham Shoa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a virtual practice based in Los Angeles, CA. She specializes in working with people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, non-monogamous relationships, and trauma survivors and provides therapy for both individuals and couples, helping clients navigate anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the deep impact of past trauma.

Her approach is engaged, trauma-informed, and collaborative—blending EMDR, mindfulness, and talk therapy to help clients process painful experiences, break unhelpful patterns, and build emotional resilience. She works actively in sessions, offering direct feedback, thoughtful insights, and practical tools. With couples, she focuses on improving communication while fostering deeper intimacy and connection.

As a woman of color and child immigrant, Elham understands how culture, identity, and systemic factors shape mental health. Message to clients

Starting therapy is a big step, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. My goal is to provide a space where you can show up as your full self—without having to explain or justify your identity, culture, or experiences. Whether you’re working through past trauma, navigating relationships, or feeling stuck in life, we’ll work together to help you gain clarity, heal, and create meaningful change.

I take an active, collaborative approach to therapy. That means I won’t just sit back and nod—I’ll engage with you, offer honest insights, and help you develop practical tools for long-term growth. Whether you’re seeking help to heal from trauma, process anxiety or depression, explore identity, or address relationships concerns, I provide a compassionate, affirming, and trauma-informed space where you can do this work at your own pace. With individuals, I often integrate EMDR, mindfulness, and talk therapy to process your concerns and shift unhelpful patterns. With couples, I focus on communication and deepening your connection.

Therapy isn’t about fixing you—you aren’t broken. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply and building the skills to move through life with greater ease. The human experience is hard enough, so why go through it alone? I invite you to reach out, and together, we can take the next steps toward healing.
