Professional statement

Elizabeth Piazza-Bonin, PhD (“Dr. Beth”) is a licensed psychologist serving Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi & Oregon. She works with adults of all ages who are committed to deep transformational work. Dr. Beth is particularly passionate about serving trauma survivors, highly perceptive (aka "sensitive") individuals & those interested in incorporating spirituality into their healing. She has advanced training in the area of PTSD, depression/anxiety & psychedelic therapy/integration.

Dr. Beth's style is warm, creative & empowering. She view symptoms, dis-ease & discomfort as benevolent teachers in disguise. She teaches clients to connect to their internal world with reverence, curiosity and unconditional love as a path to transformation and healing.

Dr. Beth offers Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, an approach that teaches embodied transformation through connection with one's inner healer. She has also trained in a multitude of evidence-based therapies across CBT and Humanistic therapy traditions. She offers harm reduction therapy for those exploring psychedelic experiences.

Dr. Beth received her PhD in 2015 from the University of Memphis & has published multiple peer-reviewed articles. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Denver VA Medical Center in 2015 followed by a trauma-focused postdoctoral fellowship. She worked for many years as psychologist at the VA hospital treating trauma survivors. She now offers therapy in her private therapy practice, Path of the Hummingbird. Dr. Beth has engaged in post-graduate training for psychedelic studies through CIIS and MAPS, and she also serves as an adherence rater providing feedback on therapy sessions within the MAPS MDMA-assisted psychotherapy clinical trials,

Outside of work, Dr. Beth is often found meditating, soaking up nature, reading about holistic health & spirituality, or traveling with the people she loves. Dr. Beth offers a completely virtual practice for your convenience.

Message to clients

Embarking on a healing journey takes great courage. Life has a way of teaching us to forget our essence. We might lose our way through sudden trauma & loss, while other times it happens slowly through stress, rejection or societal expectations. These challenges can result in self-abandonment & the erosion of our inner-knowing. Therefore, healing requires us to cultivate a process of remembrance -- of all the wisdom, self-compassion, & wholeness we already possess.

The path I guide people on teaches the power of intuition, curiosity & love to heal what hurts & reconnect with joy. This work is highly engaging & aims for transformation, which asks of the journeyer to arrive with openness, curiosity & a tenacious desire to grow. Sacred work of this kind is emotional, creative & empowering. Therapy should also yield results, & at the end of each session you should expect to have journeyed closer toward the healing you seek.

I often work with clients who have engaged in therapy but reached barriers to their optimal healing & are seeking a deeper & more active approach. This path requires the journeyer to be prepared for honest & compassionate reflection that extends beyond our sessions. It is vital to extend the work (and play!) we co-create into your everyday life, as this is where path is truly lived.

On this path, I am the guide, but you are ultimately the healer.

I wish you the best on your journey & would love to connect.
