She/Her/Hers
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFTCurrently accepting couples clients only :)
Erma Kyriakos is a psychotherapist and Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the Bay Area of California. She specializes in helping clients with couples counseling, affect/emotion regulation, trauma and (c)PTSD, surviving sexual assault/abuse, and life transitions and/or burnout. She works well with clients who may be trying to piece together a chaotic childhood or make sense out of family dynamics.
Erma pulls from a variety of modalities including mindfulness, Gestalt Awareness Practice and Parts Work, Feminist theory, Liberation Psychology, Psychodynamics and Attachment theory, and is Trauma-Informed using polyvagal theory and the mind-body connection. Erma's therapeutic style is client-centered, warm, and direct. She believes that clients deserve a therapist who can listen, be with, and hold space for emotions that may arise, as well as give feedback in a compassionate, thoughtful, and meaningful way. Erma understands that we all have the innate ability to heal ourselves and will encourage the inner wisdom of her clients. Although there is much that can be learned from our past, Erma's therapeutic work is rooted in the here and now. She often will apply what we know in our minds to how it feels in the body, fostering a holistic awareness of the self.
In her practice, Erma has experience, training, and a passion for navigating couples work, infidelity, and trauma work, and well as facilitating therapy groups. As a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies, she incorporates a holistic framework that takes our white supremacist, capitalist, patriarchal society into account when seeing clients of any gender identity, sexual identity, race, or religion and finds it important to have cultural humility when sitting across clients who identify differently than her.
Erma is offering therapy through telehealth only at this time.
