Professional statement

Hillary Howard is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in CA. Hillary specializes in supporting clients through life transitions such as: burnout, parenting, grief, in addition to managing anxiety and depression. Often, clients approach therapy because they want to find ways to live more authentically or in ways that lead to a greater sense of fulfillment. Hillary supports working professionals and students, specializing in helping healthcare professionals who are burnt out or at risk for burnout. She also frequently supports new parents who are adjusting to a growing family. Many of her clients feel emotionally exhausted and have a hard time finding the value of their weekly routines. They feel stuck and want to create new habits that transform their lives.

Hillary’s therapeutic style is interactive and engaged. She often sends clients articles, podcasts, videos, or books that might be helpful for them as they grow their mental health. She helps clients take deep looks into their daily lives and their current obstacles. Clients analyze their lives through several different lenses, such as behavioral, emotional, or social. Hillary brings mindfulness exercises into her sessions, teaching clients how to be present in their thoughts and actions. Through growing awareness, clients notice their patterns and learn what’s not working for them. Hillary helps clients connect with their values and align their lives towards these values, which can bring a greater sense of engagement in life. Hillary believes in the importance of processing past traumas and provides that support can produce healing.

She builds strong rapport with her clients and truly cares about each person that enters her practice. She is a strengths-based therapist who empowers clients to recognize and appreciate what they bring to the table. Hillary helps clients transform their lives and get through difficult transitions by intentionality and self-compassion.

Message to clients

I appreciate that you’ve taken the first steps towards finding the right therapist for you. I value the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space where you feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings. You are not alone and with gentle guidance and reflection you will find acceptance and create a life where you feel in control of your emotions. I tailor our time together to meet your needs and draw from a variety of client centered approaches to help you navigate your own life and challenges. I use compassion, insight, and humor to create engaging and interactive sessions for you to see the progress you want to make.

I enjoy helping many types of clients in different phases of life. As a parent myself, I especially enjoy working with other parents. Parents find my approach to be relatable and my background in child development helps them understand their child more clearly. As former medical professional, I often work with individuals in medical fields who are experiencing burnout or other stressors from a demanding profession. I also see clients with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Clients find me when they are experiencing grief.

Whether this is your first time working with therapist or you are returning to therapy and looking for the right fit, I am excited to speak with you. I offer a complimentary consultation to learn more about you and for you learn more about my approach. I look forward to hearing from you!

-Hillary
