Dr. Janet Niederman is a licensed psychologist in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles who also sees clients throughout the state of CA for telehealth sessions. Janet offers her clients more than 30 years of experience as she responds to their needs and inner conflicts. She recognizes that clients want to be understood for their strengths as well as their problems and they want to see real change in the quality of their lives once therapy is finished. People from many backgrounds – white, black, Asian and Latinx – report they find acceptance and emotional safety in working with Janet. She sees individuals, ages 18 – 65, in her practice.
Janet’s specialties include working with depression and anxiety. She realizes clients not only want relief from troubling symptoms but also want real shifts in the underlying issues. With that in mind, Janet draws upon both cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. In addition, Janet works with adults who struggle with ADHD. Using a treatment approach developed by four leading psychologists at Harvard Medical School, she provides a package of skills designed to help clients first gain control of their work or school day, and then helps them let go of the negative beliefs about failure they’ve been carrying for far too long.
While Janet brings her compassion to your suffering, her broader goal is that you develop compassion for yourself, freeing yourself from critical inner voices.
