Professional statement

Dr. Jesse Smith is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Philadelphia, PA, who works with adult individuals and couples, with a focus on substance problems and addiction. Many of his clients face challenges with loved ones who have substance problems or face challenges with substances of their own. Jesse is particularly sensitive to clients facing challenges in their relationships due to these issues, as that can be where many of the problems manifest.

Jesse’s approach is rooted in Attachment Theory, an approach that focuses on helping clients to feel safe and connected in their intimate relationships so that they can thrive. He works to help clients understand how their past hurts and negative patterns can impact their overall well-being- both in their relationships and individually.

Jesse is focused on ensuring that his clients feel heard and safe in therapy. When working with couples, it is important to hear both sides and work to help each partner feel more connected to each other.

Message to clients

It's my hope that sessions with me feel nurturing and empowering. There are moments of intense emotion that can be very cathartic during therapy. There are also difficult emotions that we sometimes have to uncover in order to heal. All of this takes place in a safe way so that you can feel in charge of your own healing path. I also incorporate mindfulness practice and other practical skills into the work so that you can feel like you have coping skills outside of session. Reach out today to schedule a free 15 minute consultation so that we can see if we would be a good fit.
