Professional statement

Dr. Jessica Simons is a Marriage and Family therapist, who has practice for 11 years, assisting families all over the world. She is currently providing convenient, HIPAA compliant online therapy, with flexible hours in Texas, Utah, and South Carolina. Dr. Simons provides couples, families, parents, and individuals 12 years and older. Dr. Simons specializes in helping:

Individuals who struggle with anxiety and/or depression, which may be caused by perfectionism, poor self-esteem or self-compassion, intrusive negative self-talk, self-doubt, and/or self-sabotaging (such as eating disorders, self-harm behaviors, or sex-addiction). Individuals who have a history of trauma (childhood, adult, wartime, or professional) and are seeking relief from the negative impacts of PTSD. Also, individuals who are struggling with life changes, life stressors, major decisions, family of origin or inner child issues, or adults trying to deal with the impacts of ADHD.

Couples in committed relationships who are seeking greater emotional and physical intimacy, looking for better conflict resolutions, improving communication, healing from infidelity or sex addiction of a partner, premarital counseling, or couples who are attempting to amicably separate and/or co-parent.

Children ages 12 and up who are struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or trauma. This includes individual sessions, as well as support sessions for parents helping them improve their relationships and communication with their children in order better support change in the family system which helps children maintain positive life changes.

Families looking for improved communication, team-building, problem-solving, and healthier relationships.

Dr. Simons approaches therapy from a systemic lens, meaning looking at all the relationship, cultural, family, and community variables that are impacting the issues. From there, she works from a client-centered and strengths-based approach to understand each client's goals and existing resources to achieve the client's desired changes. Dr. Simons uses CBT interventions to help clients operationalize change.

Message to clients

How can I help you live the life you want to live, have the relationships you want, and feel happiness and peace in your life? I promise, there is hope and there are answers to your problems. I believe that no what you have experienced or are currently experiencing, you have greater strength and wisdom than you might currently feel--sometimes you just need a little help tapping into that and knowing how to best direct it.

I know that it can be scary to reach out for help. I know that sometimes it is difficult to discuss aloud difficult experiences or painful feelings. I also know that finding a therapist with whom you can connect, can feel daunting. A therapist's personality is often the most important part off therapy. I work compassionately and intentionally to ensure all my clients feel heard and understood without judgment. I also use humor and irony at times to help clients see things (and themselves) more positively. I try to make sure clients know they are not alone as they make changes, but that they are capable of reaching their goals.
