Professional statement

Karie Bliss is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, and Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider located in West Palm Beach, FL. Karie has over 15 years of experience as a therapist, and enjoys working with those who would like to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing. Karie’s clients tend to struggle with anxiety, relationship conflicts, overwhelming fear, unhealthy eating behaviors, life changes like divorce, and work stress. Often, these challenges originate from a traumatic experience that leaves the individual with lasting distress.

Karie begins her relationship with a new client by building trust and rapport with them. She gently asks them to talk about their past experiences, as well as their current state of mental health. She assesses clients with the use of several evidence-based assessment tools, and helps them come up with tangible goals for themselves. Throughout their sessions, Karie and her clients work towards these goals to find greater wellbeing. Karie also incorporates elements of mindfulness and yoga into her work with clients, tapping into holistic wellbeing approaches. She may teach her clients about meditation or mindful movement, which can be helpful in grounding them in moments of distress. Karie also uses thought-based and values-based therapy approaches to support clients’ growth.

Karie earned a Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. She has additional training in Alderian therapy techniques, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is a nature-lover and enjoys spending time being active outdoors.

Message to clients

I have a great deal of experience in mindfulness and yoga practices, and I have been trained in Adlerian styles as well as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. I value establishing rapport with a client in the first session, gaining a brief history (or sometimes a more in-depth history) and learning the reasons for seeking services. We can then complete some brief assessment tools to gauge how severe symptoms are while establishing SMART goals for therapeutic outcomes. The progress and pace are the clients to establish, but I sometimes offer gentle challenges and homework to move the process along in a positive way.

I grew up in the country, in a very small town, and spent a lot of time outdoors. So, I know the value of outdoor play, vitamin N for nature, connection to one another, and building positive, long-lasting relationships. I have also traveled to several countries and almost all 50 states to experience life through the eyes of others. I thoroughly enjoy telehealth as I can take my practice outside on my farm and allow others to experience sessions with nature around us. I think telehealth is here to stay due to the increased accessibility it offers for all. There is no stress from driving to an office and then waiting in the lobby for the clinician to be ready.
