Professional statement

Dr. Natalie Horn is a Psychologist in Denver, Colorado. Her clients tend to be high achieving individuals, professionals, and athletes, who are looking for a mixture of support reaching their goals and help letting go of perfectionism or a harsh inner critic. Dr. Horn specializes in sports psychology (mental performance coaching), eating and weight-related disorders (restrictive eating and overeating), stress management, anxiety, and depression.

Dr. Horn's sports psychology practice is a great fit for both professional and amateur athletes alike. Dr. Horn works with athletes looking to accomplish exciting goals, from completing an ultramarathon, climbing Everest, qualifying for the Boston Marathon, or completing a triathlon. She has worked with several professional athletes, including team USA athletes. Dr. Horn also provides services to athletes struggling to come back from injury or setbacks, as well as former competitive athletes looking to receive support as they transition out of professional sport.

Dr. Horn's eating disorder expertise is focused on helping clients make peace with food and their bodies. She helps clients break free of eating disorder behaviors, challenge eating disorder thoughts, move past seeing food as punishment or reward, reconnect with hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues, and ultimately spend less time thinking about food, weight, and shape.

Sessions with Dr. Horn are individually-tailored to help clients meet their goals. Her framework integrates evidence-based therapies with empathy and self-compassion. Her style is collaborative, interactive, and non-judgmental. Dr. Horn helps clients create awareness of patterns that may be keeping them stuck and identify alternative ways of thinking and acting so that change can happen. She provides an ideal combination of space for reflection as well as actionable tools for change.

Message to clients

I know what it's like to want to live, not simply exist. Our sessions together will focus on helping you create a life that’s overflowing with the experiences and purpose you’ve always wanted. I believe therapy should focus on creating more of a good thing, not just getting rid of things we don't want (like anxiety, depression, etc). My hope is that you'll share your passions and dreams with me. Tell me what you want more of in life, tell me what the barriers are, and together we will find a way to overcome them. I'm a big believer in big dreams, but sometimes the thoughts or actions that we think are helpful for progressing are actually keeping us stuck (looking at you negative self talk, harsh inner critic, and rigid goal setting). Together we can examine which thoughts and actions are working for you, and eliminate or educe the ones that get in your way.
