Professional statement

Tara Behr is a Licensed Professional Counselor working with people suffering from Complex-PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, attachment issues, grief and bereavement, and childhood trauma. She works with adolescents and adults who are wanting to feel a sense of safety, creativity and agency in their lives.

Her therapy approach is holistic, trauma-informed and person-centered. She centers the therapeutic alliance between herself and her client. From there, she draws on her skills and expertise in existential therapy, eco-psychology, EMDR, and somatic tracking and a mindfulness-based approach. She will support you in moving from surviving life to thriving in life.

Tara is studied in developmental trauma, eco-psychology, Jungian psychology and contemplative mindfulness-based practices. Her office is in Cheyenne Canyon, Colorado Springs, but she also works with clients online in virtual sessions.

Message to clients

It is so deeply satisfying to find a place where you can relax and be yourself for one hour every week without having to perform, wear a mask, or please another person. This time is for you to reclaim what matters to you. I will support you by caring for you without needing anything from you and walking alongside you as you learn to stand tall in the truth of who you are.

This will be a judgment-free, confidential, warm space for you to unravel anything that is keeping you from thriving and being you.

There may be many people in your life who have hundreds of reasons for you to live the way they want you to. They have an agenda for you. I am most interested in what you want. When we live in our trauma self, our agency and freedom are thwarted. Recovery from trauma is recovering your freedom and power to create the life you desire to belong to. I'm here to be with you, step by step, as you uncover your purpose, true self, and loving relationships where emotional intimacy and closeness become effortless.
