Terrance Martin(He/Him/His)

Terrance Martin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in New York, NY. Terrance is passionate about providing clients, especially male clients, the tools they need to manage their emotions. Many of his clients find themselves emotionally exhausted each day as they navigate their personal and professional lives. This becomes compounded when they are minority identities and must cope with the stress of discrimination or bias. Clients often turn to harmful habits as they self-medicate so as not to feel overwhelmed, which can lead to alcohol or drug addictions.

Terrance specializes in working with diverse populations. He brings trauma-informed therapy modalities into each session, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy. Clients learn how to pay attention to their emotions and avoid their emotional triggers. They also learn helpful communication tools, including how to set boundaries with themselves and those around them. Clients grow their understanding of their unhealthy habits and work closely with Terrance to replace those habits with healthier alternatives. Terrance’s goal is to ensure that every client feels heard, understood, and affirmed through therapy.

Terrance earned a Master’s degree from John Jay College. He has nearly ten years of experience supporting clients through holistic healing. His style is encouraging, warm, and understanding. His therapeutic lens includes the vantage point from a person of color, specifically that of a Black person and man, allowing authentic connection and a deep level of empathy with his clients, especially those that seek therapy to process through the implications of their identity on their emotional wellbeing.
