Professional statement

Vasti Cedeno is a Clinical Social Work Therapist and owner of LifeWork Counseling in NJ specializing in helping adolescents and adults with issues surrounding trauma, shame and body positivity. Many of Vasti’s clients are struggling with self-love and have negative, harmful relationships with their bodies. Her goal is to help clients find their inner strength and develop the skills they need to resolve difficulties, accomplish goals and make positive changes.

In session with Vasti, clients learn more about their thoughts and behaviors as well as how their thoughts and behaviors play impact their emotions. Using integrated therapy approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), shame-resilience therapy, and art therapy, to teach clients about harmful thought patterns and how to build better coping and communication skills to avoid them. She is a strengths-based therapist, which means that she believes wholeheartedly that each client has everything they need within and around them to heal. Together, Vasti and her clients leverage these strengths to cope positively to the stressors life continues to challenge them with.

Vasti understands these past couple years have been particularly difficult with the pandemic and social isolation, leaving more time in our heads for our past and fears to overwhelm us. She is committed to making her space a safe harbor for any who need it while they begin their journey of healing.

Message to clients

LifeWork Counseling is a Body Positive private practice, I opened at the start of 2021. I understand the past year has been particularly difficult with all the public and social restrictions brought on by the pandemic. For many of us, this has meant social isolation, more time in our head, the stories of our past resurfacing, the fears of our future overwhelming us...and now it is time to pause the noise of your critical voice, and work on you. Together we can begin the journey of healing from your past and developing mindful ways to cope positively to the life stressors that continue to challenge you. This is the hardest work you will ever do, this is your LIFEWORK.
