Tech firms enter the business of campus mental health care
Zencare connects students with therapists and clinicians in their area. For longer-term care, college counseling centers often refer students off-campus, but the list of therapists can be extensive, appointments difficult to make, and fee information out of date. Zencare allows them to search for therapists online, based on insurance, care needs, preferences for a gender, language, expertise, and approach.
Website Strives To Make Therapist Search Process More Zen
Quality mental healthcare treatment is in high demand, but finding a provider can be difficult. This is because other directories often provide an overwhelming number of options with information which may not be up-to-date or robust. Zencare focuses on matching patients based on quality, personality fit, availability and insurance.
New website takes the guesswork out of finding a therapist
Zencare is Yelp meets online dating. Each therapist makes a short video in which they introduce themselves and talk about their interests and therapy methods. If the viewer is interested, they can schedule a time online for a phone consultation prior to booking an in-person appointment. The phone consultation also allows people to connect to many therapists over a short span of time.
Inventive Help For Mental Health One College Student Would Suggest To Another
Because she used Zencare, she knew what to expect when she got to her new therapist’s office. “I knew what the building and waiting room were like, and I knew what she looked like because I saw it on Zencare,” Pastro said. “So when she walked out of the door, I thought to myself, ‘Yes, that’s her. I’m here to meet you.'”
The ‘Power of a Really Good Therapist’: How Zencare Makes Finding One Easy
On each therapist’s page is a video and other information, which keeps the guesswork out of the hunt. If users are stuck, they can ring Zencare for more helping making a match. When they find one, they can then also schedule an initial free, five- to 10-minute appointment directly from the profile. The call is a chance for potential patients to ask the therapist questions about fees and style, as well as to get a feel for the professional over the phone.
On Our Minds: Finding a Therapist is Easy with Yuri Tomikawa and Zencare
She hopes to normalize conversations about mental health so that more people feel comfortable seeking therapy. And with an increased demand for therapists, we’ll hopefully see the number and diversity of therapists growing as well, continuing a positive cycle and encouraging even more people to take care of their mental health.
