Since it's an online therapy directory rather than an online therapy company that matches you with a provider, you have full control over who you choose.

Interview with Zencare's founder
Zencare was born out of my own personal struggle to find a therapist. Existing directories didn’t allow for nuanced searches and information posted was often out of date or inaccurate. After going through an overwhelming and discouraging process and still not being able to find the right fit, I started Zencare to simplify that process for other therapy seekers.

Tech firms enter the business of campus mental health care
For longer-term care, college counseling centers often refer students off-campus, but the list of therapists can be extensive, appointments difficult to make, and fee information out of date. Zencare allows them to search for therapists online, based on insurance, care needs, preferences for a gender, language, expertise, and approach.

New website takes the guesswork out of finding a therapist
Zencare is Yelp meets online dating. Each therapist makes a short video in which they introduce themselves and talk about their interests and therapy methods. If the viewer is interested, they can schedule a time online for a phone consultation prior to booking an in-person appointment. The phone consultation also allows people to connect to many therapists over a short span of time.

Inventive Help For Mental Health One College Student Would Suggest To Another
Because she used Zencare, she knew what to expect when she got to her new therapist’s office. “I knew what the building and waiting room were like, and I knew what she looked like because I saw it on Zencare,” Pastro said. “So when she walked out of the door, I thought to myself, ‘Yes, that’s her. I’m here to meet you.'”

The ‘Power of a Really Good Therapist’: How Zencare Makes Finding One Easy
On each therapist’s page is a video and other information, which keeps the guesswork out of the hunt. When they find one, they can then also schedule an initial free, five- to 10-minute appointment directly from the profile. The call is a chance for potential patients to ask the therapist questions about fees and style, as well as to get a feel for the professional over the phone.

On Our Minds: Finding a Therapist is Easy with Yuri Tomikawa and Zencare
She hopes to normalize conversations about mental health so that more people feel comfortable seeking therapy. And with an increased demand for therapists, we’ll hopefully see the number and diversity of therapists growing as well, continuing a positive cycle and encouraging even more people to take care of their mental health.

An Interview With Zencare Founder Yuri Tomikawa
In honor of mental illness awareness week, we had a sitdown with the 27-year-old founder of Zencare, Yuri Tomikawa. Zencare is a website that helps millennials find their ideal talk therapist. Students can check off-campus therapists’ availability, browse photos, and videos, and book a free initial call directly on the website to find a good fit!

Zencare Connects People to Mental Health Services
Tomikawa, who moonlights as a web designer, thought there had to be a better way — especially for millennials, who are more apt to ask Google for a referral than a friend. In February of 2015, alongside a team of student advisers from Brown University, Tomikawa launched Zencare, a clean, distraction-free — read: zen — website featuring detailed profiles of local mental health care professionals.

A Brown Grad Works to Connect Patients with Providers
Finding a therapist often includes days of rifling through listings, sending emails and playing phone tag. Zencare, a company founded by Brown graduate Yuri Tomikawa, aims to connect patients with therapists in a shorter, smoother and much more “zen” way.
