Amber Monroe is a Marriage and Family Therapist located in La Mesa, CA. Amber is passionate about helping clients with eating disorders find peace, health, and balance in their lives. Many of Amber’s clients have unhealthy and codependent relationships in their lives, especially with food and eating patterns. Amber helps clients break bad habits and find healing, both physical and emotional.

Amber’s approach to therapy combines many evidence-based practices, including Eye Movement Reprocessing Desensitization (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational interviewing, and Solution-focused Brief Therapy. Amber believes that many of her clients experience mental health symptoms because of traumatic or negatively impactful events in their lives. She creates calm, comforting space for clients to process through their memories and learn more about their inner thoughts, needs, and dreams. She helps clients find coping skills that are helpful and authentic for them, as well as dispel any negative thought patterns -- including obsessive thoughts -- that hold them back from feeling confident.

Amber earned her Master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. She has experience working in diverse mental health settings. She strives to facilitate culturally-competent therapy sessions for all of her clients, where she empowers them to take control over their mental health and find a healthy balance with themselves and those around them.

How does payment work at your practice?

Collaboration with insurance policies require disclosure of diagnosis and confidential information. Additionally, denials of request for a necessary treatment can interfere with achieving your desired treatment. Due to these limitations we are a fee for service company and do not take insurance. Clients are asked to pay for services at the time services are rendered. Amber Monroe MFT, Counseling Services, Inc accepts all major credit cards, some HSA cards and cash. We are open and willing to work with some financial limitations as well as provide superbills for tax or reimbursement purposes.
