The counselors and coaches of The Center for Mighty Marriages & Families (CMMF) believe that every human being is made in the Image of God and, as such, is worthy of honor and respect solely because of that. We strive so that every interaction a client has with someone at CMMF leaves that person feeling honored and respected. Because of the often very difficult things we help with, not every client leaves with a smile on their face, but they do leave feeling like they're not alone in dealing with what they are facing in life and/or relationships and that they are honored and respected by the person they have allowed to come alongside them to help.
We have a variety of education and experiences that allow us to help a wide variety of people who are hurting. One of the highest goals all of our counselors and coaches have is to "work ourselves out of a job with every client." We work very hard to get every client to the point that they say, "I just don't need you any more. I'll take it from here!"
Dr. John VanderKaay leads the CMMF Team. He is a Texas Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Supervisor, Double Board Certified in Professional Christian and Pastoral Counseling, has a Doctorate in Marriage & Family Counseling, a Masters specializing in Pastoral Counseling, and a Masters in Theology. He is a retired US military chaplain. He has been counseling for almost 30 years.
Julie Forman is a trained and certified Mental Health & Life Coaches specializing in trauma and crisis response.
CMMF's counselors and coaches are able to help with a wide variety of issues and concerns, but have more extensive training and experience in fewer specialized areas.
All our counselors and coaches are practicing Christians and thoroughly integrate their faith into their counsel or coaching for clients desiring that. For those who do not want that, we respect that and demonstrate our faith by respecting that decision.

The Center for Mighty Marriages & Families is on the north side of Houston, Texas and offers individual, couples, family, and group counseling and coaching sessions in both in-person and online options.
The Center for Mighty Marriages & Families is not the best help for everyone, and we don't try to be. We offer our coaching and counseling out of who we are and our own lives and educational experiences, applying that to the uniqueness of each client. We don't try to be who we think clients think we should be. We understand that clients choose to allow us to help them because there was something about us that led them to decide that we would be the best ones to help them, not because we told them what we thought they wanted to hear.
We begin every counseling and coaching relationship with the desire to work ourselves out of a job with every client. We rejoice with our clients when they see that they don't need us any more, that they can "take it from here."
We expect our clients to invest not only their finances, but their time and other abilities into resolving the concerns that bring them in to see us. If our rates are impossible for you to pay, we often have scholarship funds that could reduce the cost of getting the help you want. Contact us to request a Scholarship Request Form.
We do NOT directly accept and bill any insurance plans, but will help you file for reimbursements. The standard rate for 50 minute counseling sessions with Dr. John VanderKaay is $185 & Julie Forman is $45.
