Professional statement

Dr. Aleksey (Alex) Zvinyatskovskiy is a psychologist in CA.

Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy's practice is firmly rooted in clinical science and evidence-based practices (EBPs) developed using state-of-the-art clinical research. This ensures that the techniques he uses are scientifically supported. While relying on evidence-based practices is an important part of providing you with the best care possible, Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy tailors these techniques to address your specific needs. Using EBPs as the backbone of the treatment plan, Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy works collaboratively with clients to ensure that the treatment you receive is effective in helping you reach your goals.

Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy has extensive training in targeted interventions as well as treatments that focus more broadly on underlying emotional processes. He is also a firm believer that while psychotherapy involves personal growth and change, it is important to recognize and honor the parts of you that are whole. Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He also frequently incorporate mindfulness-based and existential approaches into treatment. Dr. Zvinyatskovskiy finds that combining treatment approaches can increase their effectiveness in many instances.

Message to clients

Choosing to enter psychotherapy can be a difficult process. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is an important first step. Our work together begins with collaboratively understanding what brought you in and how we will best address your needs.

Psychotherapy can have different goals: it can address a specific problem, like insomnia or anxiety; it can help people discover new ways of coping with difficult emotions or challenging life circumstances such as stress, low mood/depression, relationship problems, and trauma; or it can serve as a space for personal exploration and growth. Usually, it’s a combination of all three. We will work together to create a unique approach that works for you.
